Most people think that it is ok to self promote in social media platforms. You should promote with caution. The best way to promote is to entice customers with information that makes them chuckle, promote desire connect with them on an emotional level.
You can promote your product or brand but you need to do that by giving 80 per cent of the time and promote 20 per cent. I know that it is difficult to do but, well worth the effort.

What is Social Media?
Social Media is more than twitter, facebook, utube and Linkedin. The reason your company should be using social media is to network. Through social media your company will be able to find the ever elusive targeted customer, relate information to existing customers and centers of influence. Correct me if I’m wrong but, social media does not include sending out spam tweets or wall messages. Social Media should be a well thought out strategy planned for your customers benefit and ultimately you will reap the rewards.
You Must First Become Genuinely Interested in Other People
Social media is no different than in real life. People are interested in their selfs first others second. So ask questions about them. If you want to build a relationship with them. People like other people that are like or think like them so find some common ground and build from there.
Do a little online research on the person and find out what that common ground is and then talk to them about what interest they have. They will be flattered that you took the time to do a two minute search.
Produce Helpful Free Content
On your blog if you consistently post helpful information in your post and a genuine interest in the customer they will think of you as the person with the answers.

People want you to show them that you are trustworthy and aren’t in the relationship for what you can get. You should use a ratio of 12 to 1 you give 12 ask for something 1.
Be Responsive
When someone takes some time to send you a compliment of needs assistance with a problem respond in a timely manner. Always try to respond within the same day. Let them know that you appreciate them and value their time.
Take Your Time and Be Persistent
If you are trying to attract a center of influence it will take time. People who are center of influence, usually have an ego.You will have to stroke that ego. Follow their work, promote their work with caution. It is very easy to spot a fake, so be genuine. Taking an active interest in them will naturally make them curious about you.
